Pea-Fowl Description, Habitat Diet And  Aviculture                       


Description 

The two most recognized species of Pea Fowl are the green, Javanese, found in Myanmar and Burma, and the Indian blue.

They are from India and Sri Lanka

 Says Pea hen.


Blue and green peacocks are about 90 to 135 in length
 inches and tail size is about 60 inches.
 During courtship, the male displays his wings
 Raises the tail.


This display climaxes by moving its tail back and forth, making a hissing sound.
 Blue Murky Rim has blue and bronze eyespots.


The blue peacock female is plain in color while the male is very attractive.

The color of the neck feathers would be blue  and green and the rest of the body would be sharp and light brown in color.


And the female green Java peacock is more similar to the male.


                         

Basics Diet

Cereals, berries in food in natural environment
 Includes fruit, leaves, insects etc             

Aviculture Diet 

In Aviculture, they are usually fed a combination of poultry feed pellets, 

chopped vegetables, chopped fruits and different types of commodities like maize, millet, sunflower seeds, pulses, etc. Vitamins to meet their nutritional needs. 

 And calcium is also used _ in addition to this, vaccines are also used to protect against diseases.       

Breeding season

The breeding season starts in the spring, usually in the month of March and the breeding process continues till the month of August.
 Peacocks usually go through the breeding process three times, mating lasts for 5 to 6 months.
If the eggs are not picked from the nest, the number of eggs is 5 to 8 eggs and if the eggs are picked for incubation.

Then egg-laying has been recorded for a month, the female peacock leaving the egg for a day or two. 

It keeps laying and lays 10 to 12 eggs in one clutch, season 3 to 4 clutch record.

      


Their egg size is bigger than chicken egg and even bigger than duck egg, it is about 40 to 50 times bigger than chicken egg.

The percentage is larger than that of ostrich eggs. It is easy to compare chicken and duck and peacock eggs.
